Licensed Practical Nursing Programs in Florida

Are you at least 18 years old and looking to start a career in nursing? You can now become a Licensed Practical Nurse by enrolling in the LPN program offered by the Lively Technical Center located in Tallahassee, Florida. The program is only one year long and it requires 1350 hours of intensive instruction. The main requirements for admission into the practical nursing program include a face to face interview with a school counselor, an application to the Nursing Department, proof of high-school diploma or GED, and up to date immunizations.

Successful completion of the program will be achieved by passing both classroom and clinical components. There are a limited number of scholarships available in the Nursing Department but all students are encouraged to contact and request an application form for assistance with tuition costs from the Financial Aid office. The Lively Technical Center licensed practical nurse program is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education.

The practical nursing program offered by Erwin Technical Center in Tampa, Florida starts every year at the beginning of August and lasts for twelve months. The total estimated cost for this program is under $3000. In order to be considered for admission into this program you need to take the TABE examination, have all required immunizations, complete the background test and drug screening, and fill out an application for admission.

Students enrolled in the practical nurse program will follow the coursework required by the Florida State Board of Nursing and upon graduation will be able to take the NCLEX-PN exam in order to become licensed practical nurses. Erwin Technical Center practical nurse graduates will receive extra credits when they decide to pursue a Registered Nurse A.S. Degree in Nursing at any community college in the state of Florida. As per Erwin Technical Center statistics, 85% of their LPN graduates have found employment opportunities at hospitals, doctor offices, nursing homes, clinics, and private homes throughout the state at start-up salaries ranging from $14.50 to more than $20.00 per hour.
