Nurse Anesthetist

The School of Nursing of the University of Miami is committed to provide a superior education as well as employment opportunities for students accepted into the nurse anesthetist program. The university has created the Nurse Anesthetist Scholars Program which gives students full in-state tuition, and covers the cost of books and other fees. All registered nurses (RN) who hold a bachelor’s degree and are accepted into this program receive the scholarship. Graduates of this nursing program must commit to three years of full time employment at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine hospitals or clinics.

Nursing Programs in Florida

Are you a registered nurse holding a four-year nursing degree and looking for a unique graduate program? If you have experience in critical care then you should consider a Nurse Anesthesia Program. The School of Nursing at the Florida Gulf Coast University started such a program in January 2007 and has received accreditation for it from the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. Upon completion of this graduate program you will receive a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a focus in Nurse Anesthesia.

The Florida Gulf Coast University is the only school to offer such a program in Southwest Florida. Students follow a rigorous instructional schedule of 28 months at the end of which 79 total credits will be completed. The program is offered on a full-time basis only and it requires over 60 hours of study and clinical work per week. The cost for this graduate nursing program depends on your state of residency, with in-state student tuition of about $30,000 and out-of-state tuition reaching $81,000. Those interested in this program should hold a current registered nurse license in any state of the United States and be eligible to obtain a Florida RN license.

Are you looking for a challenging and exciting graduate nursing degree? Florida Atlantic University offers several Master in Nursing programs which can be completed either full time or part time depending on your preference. The Family Nurse Practitioner graduate program is a good choice to consider since upon graduation you will be able to provide expert care to adults as well as to children. The program requires 100 clinical hours within a pediatric environment, 100 hours in women's health and another 100 hours of clinical time with adults.

Graduates of this program will complete 43 credits and a total of 660 hours spent in clinical practice. Family Nurse Practitioners are employed in a variety of settings including various health clinics, physician and private practice offices, HMO clinics, community health centers, hospitals, and correctional facilities. The Florida Atlantic University allows graduate students to complete courses on multiple campuses and using various modes of information delivery. Some of the methods for instruction include live classes, weekend format classes, TV and web-assisted classes as well as on-line courses.
