The Americare School of Nursing has been a leader in providing healthcare programs in Orlando and St. Petersburg, Florida. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and licensed by the Commission for Independent Education. Among the health related programs of study being currently offered on their campuses is the Medical Assistant Program. This is a diploma program which requires 900 hours of instruction. Students are prepared on two levels which include lecture and hands-on patient care.
There are over 700 hours of classroom and laboratory instruction plus 160 hours of clinical experience gained in externship programs. Not only will you gain clinical skills but you will become knowledgeable in office skills as well. These skills are required in many employment setting but especially in physician offices where most medical assistants work. Externships are arranged by the Americare School of Nursing faculty and take place at medical facilities in the Orlando and St. Petersburg area. The medical assistant program takes 37 weeks to complete and upon graduation you will have the credentials to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant Certification Exam. All students who successfully complete the coursework and clinical components will be awarded a medical assistant diploma from the Americare School of Nursing.

Did you know that Florida Medical Training Institute offers nursing assistant courses at the Melbourne campus? This program consists of 180 hours out of which 132 hours are for classroom instruction and 48 hours are dedicated to clinical experiences at hospitals and nursing homes. Students must attend classes on campus, two days per week for six hours each day. Each student is responsible for scheduling clinical hours with the health care facility designated by the Florida Medical Training Institute.
In order to start the admission process students should first complete the application forms and pay any required registration fees. The school has implemented payment programs to help nursing assistant students cover tuition costs. All questions regarding cost of program and assistance should be directed to the financial aid office. Certain requirements need to be satisfied prior to graduation, including completion of all required classes and clinical hours, and a passing rate of 70% for each module, term, and final exams.
