Associate Degree Nursing Programs in Florida
The nursing program at Edison College has been designed to accommodate various student needs, and it stands out when compared to other nursing programs throughout Florida. A distinct advantage is the opportunity to choose between day, evening and weekends, or advanced placement nursing programs, depending on your individual needs. Students who are fresh out of high-school tend to choose the day nursing program, while those with family and work responsibilities opt for the evening and weekend program.
The Advanced Placement Program at Edison College has been created to help the licensed practical nurse, radiologic technicians, and paramedics achieve the educational requirements for obtaining a registered nurse license. Regardless of which nursing program you decide to apply to, you will follow the same classroom courses and clinical practice at various health care facilities as well as on campus. Edison College has three different campuses, each of them equipped with a nursing laboratory for hands-on practice.
Courses have been designed to give students a deep understanding of nursing concepts which when combined with the practical experience will prepare the graduate to pass the national examination exam for registered nurses. It is common for most nursing programs to have a selective admission criteria due to a limited number of spaces available for nursing students. To ensure your admission into the Edison College nursing program you should maintain a high grade point average on all the required courses and pass the nursing entrance exam.

Hillsborough Community College prepares students interested in a nursing career at two different campuses through a two-year, full-time nursing program. This college is known to offer thorough clinical and classroom education since 1970 and one can attend at either the Dale Mabry or Plan City campus, depending on which location you find more convenient. This Associate Degree Nursing program has been recognized, approved and accredited by the Florida Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
There is no waiting list for those who apply and interested candidates who are not admitted into the nursing program on their first attempt should reapply. Several options have been created to help accommodate the needs of most students. The first nursing program option consists of attendance during the day only, accepts enrollment in both fall and spring semester, and it applies to students who do not posses a nursing license or certificate.
Another option is to attend the nursing program during evenings and Saturdays. In this case you will be able to start during the spring semester at the Dale Mabry campus or choose to begin in the fall semester at the Plant City Campus. This second option is open to licensed practical and vocational nurses as well as to those who do not posses a nursing license. Licensed practical nurses with a current Florida LPN license are encouraged to enroll in the transitional option of the nursing program which is offered at the Dale Mabry campus and admits students only during the summer semester. All students should keep in mind that no matter which option of this nursing program is selected, the length of the program is four academic semesters during which full-time attendance is required for both clinical and classroom instruction.
