LPN Training Programs in Florida
Every year in June about thirty students are admitted into the practical nursing program at Pensacola Junior College. Pensacola Junior College is well known for its Practical Nursing program offered once a year to students who want to become licensed practical nurses. This vocational certificate program consists of 45 credits which amount to 1350 hours of classroom, laboratory experience, and clinical practice. Classroom instruction is conducted at the Warrington campus while clinical experiences may include health facilities throughout the Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
All students who wish to enroll into this program should complete the admission criteria first. The most important admission criteria consist of completing the application for college enrollment, taking the TABE test, and having your high school transcripts ready. Those who hold a certification as a nurse aide and wish to enroll into the LPN program will receive advanced placement and will be able to complete the program within 10 months instead of one year. There is no waiting list for this program and students are admitted on a first-come first-served fashion as long as they have completed the program admission criteria.

The licensed practical nurse program at Orlando Tech is approved by the Florida State Board of Nursing and it prepares graduates for entry level positions in the practical nursing field. Program completion gives students the right to take the NCLEX-PN exam and become certified as licensed practical nurses. This program requires a total of 1350 hours of combined classroom and clinical instruction and it is offered both full-time and part-time.
Those who wish to enroll in the full-time option start classes in January, May and September and will attend classroom instruction only during day time. The part-time option of the LPN program requires attendance to evening classes and has flexible start dates. To enroll into this program you must be at least 18 years old and hold either a high-school diploma or a GED. Upon completion of the first 90 hours of the program you will receive a Basic Healthcare Worker certification. Those who successfully complete 75 hours of the LPN program are entitled to a Nursing Assistant certificate. To become a practical nurse you must complete all 1350 hours of the LPN program and pass the NCLEX-PN examination. The program tuition for both full-time and part-time students is approximately $4500.
