LPN Programs in Florida

The LPN program offered at Charlotte Technical Center in Charlotte, Florida, gives you the unique opportunity to start your career as a practical nurse and also help ensure that your future education and skills will increase. You may attend either a day or an evening practical nurse program that is 18 months long and has the required 1350 program hours.
Applicants must present proof of high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old as required by the Florida State Board of Nursing. Following successful completion of program requirements you may take the state licensing exam and begin working as a licensed practical nurse. Graduates of the licensed practical nurse program are allowed to articulate to any community college in the state of Florida and will receive ten credit hours counting toward a future Associate Degree in Nursing. The Practical Nursing program available at the First Coast Technical Institute in Saint Augustine, Florida, is accredited by the Florida State Board of Nursing and the Council on Occupational Education. Successful completion of this 1350 hours LPN program enables students to take the Florida State Board of Nursing LPN examination. The program cost is estimated to be $5500. There are both day and evening programs available. Those who choose the LPN program during the day have the option to begin classes in either November or June.
Students who choose to attend the evening LPN program must start in August. Students are admitted into the program based on a point system. The following are taken into consideration for accumulation of points: student residence, current certification as a nurse aide, emergency medical technician or paramedic status, the score you obtained on the TABE test, any previous courses related to the medical field. Those who are admitted into the Licensed Practical Nurse program are eligible to apply for financial assistance.
