George Stone Technical Center offers a nurse aide and patient care technician program which is composed of classroom instruction combined with clinical practice for a total of six hundred hours. Students will gain knowledge that will prepare them for taking the Florida Certified Nursing Assistant Exam. The nurse aide and patient care technician programs admit students who are 16 years or older. Programs are available for full time or part time students. Every student who wishes to enroll into the nurse aide program must complete the Test of Adult Basic Education.
A vocational interest test is also available to students but it is not mandatory in order to be admitted into the program. The results of both tests are used by the George Stone Technical Center guidance counselors to determine the weaknesses, strengths, and special interests of each student. Prospective students who wish to apply for financial assistance will be guided by a counselor in completing the necessary paperwork. Keep in mind that no tuition or fees are required for high-school students enrolled in the Patient Care Technician or Nurse Aide program. The tuition, fees, and cost of books will be covered by the George Stone Technical Center.
