Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Programs in Florida

Have you been wondering what it takes to become a Medical Assistant in the state of Florida? A typical medical assistant program will take less than a year to complete, will give you the knowledge necessary to take the American Association of Medical Assistants examination and earn a Medical Assistant Certification. Broward Community College offers an accredited medical assisting program which starts in August and takes only ten months to complete. The program does require prerequisite course work but once those are completed you only need to add 9 more college credits in order to graduate. Like other nursing related career paths, the medical assistant program requires that students maintain at least a 2.0 GPA.

The number of students admitted into the program each year is limited to no more than fifteen, ensuring a small class size and individual attention to the needs of each student. Full-time attendance is mandatory and the program requires commitment to both lectures and clinical experiences. Externships are used extensively and will usually take place in physician offices. Through such externships, Broward Community College ensures that each student has the opportunity to observe the role and job requirements of a medical assistant as well as to practice the skills and knowledge acquired in the medical assisting program.
