Certified Nurse Aide Programs in Florida

Whether your goal is to become a certified nurse aide or a patient care technician, Manatee Technical Institute in Bradenton, Florida, can get you there. The nursing assistant course can be completed in only eleven weeks after which you can obtain your certification and begin working in the health care field. You will learn the skills to provide competent patient care and have a large number of health care facilities willing to offer you employment. As a certified nurse aide you will be an essential part of the health care team and you will work under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Fourteen students are admitted into the nurse aide course at Manatee Technical Institute every semester.

Classes are held during evenings and weekends, with a total program cost of approximately $650. The student interested in acquiring a wider array of skills should consider the patient care technician avenue. This program requires about 600 hours of classroom and clinical instruction during which you will learn basic care and nursing concepts as well as occupational, restorative, phlebotomy, and EKG skills. Are you eager to start working in the health care field but do not want to spend years obtaining your education? Take a look at the certification programs offered by Brevard Community College in Florida. The Medical Assistant program and the Patient Care Technician program are both offered to students interested in the health care sector. Brevard Community College has four integrated campuses located in Cocoa, Melbourne, Palm Bay and Titusville.

Courses for both the medical assistant and the patient care technician programs can be completed at the Health Sciences Campus in Cocoa. The medical assistant program accepts students in all three semesters at the beginning of spring, summer, and fall, and it requires the completion of 47 credits. Successfully completing this program will lead to being certified in electrocardiography, CPR, AIDS, phlebotomy, administering of injections, and medical assisting. The 1300 hours of classroom instruction and clinical practice will prepare students to take the National AAMA Certification exam.

The patient care technician program requires only 20 credits which can be completed in 600 hours of combined lecture and hands-on experience. Upon program completion the student will be ready to function as an advanced nursing assistant, a home health aide, a patient care assistant, or a phlebotomist. Graduates of the patient care technician program will hold several certificates including: adult certificate in patient care technician, nursing assistant, home health aide, patient care assistant, electrocardiography, and phlebotomy certificates. Completion of this program will allow students to take the Florida Nursing Assistant Certification Exam as well as the Phlebotomy National Certification Exam.
